The Preliminary Task

In our Preliminary Task, we were asked to produce a short film, in preparation to the filming of the masterpiece that is The Holepuncher, we asked appropriate teachers if we could use their classrooms for filming, they happily obliged us with minimal fuss.

We began filming, we tried to hard to make sure we kept techniques and continuity on the top of our list of things to pack into this beautiful piece of art. we used low angle shots to see the entrances of Nick. we used a close up of the door handle when Nick opens it, we tried to keep the same sort of framing throughout and incorporated a shot reverse shot to some shots, I played myself basically, we used medium close ups so we could see a good portion of both characters and our surroundings, I was sitting at a desk typing on the computer whilst Nick entered and we begin the converstaion about theuse of a Hole puncher and the whereabouts of it. For Nick's entrance to the room we used match on action to show the door opening from the corridoor and the room, we also used a long shot for Nick's entrance aswell as we needed to see the distance to the desk clearly.

All in all i was happy with the group's work as we worked well together, and got through the filming and editing processes quickly and with minimal fuss from anyone, in order to improve the film i feel we could have used a few more difficult and flamboyant ideas, i feel that with this movie we have tried to play it save in order to get the foundations correct, as we left a bit of our dialougue out of the original piece we had to improvise, so we placed a voice-over in the piece so it would connect up the shots and pick up the action and move it along the timeline of events.

I personally feel that this movie overall has been a success, my skills with the camera demolish my skills on Imovie, as I feel that the soft ware is a lot harder to use than the hardware.
